The Sardine Movement, also known as Le Sardine or 6000 sardines and officially called the Association of 6000 sardines E.T.S., is an Italian political activism movement founded by Mattia Santori. The movement was born in Bologna in November 2019 during the electoral campaign for the regional elections in Emilia-Romagna on January 26, 2020. mainly pursuing the ideals of anti-fascism and the fight against racial discrimination, as well as the rejection of populism and sovereignty and the condemnation of verbal violence in Italian politics, which according to the Sardines should be legally equated with physical violence.
